According to some, if you oppose President Obama, or think his policies are dangerous, you're a racist.
So I came across a blog post that quoted Tom Tancredo as saying something along the lines of Obama being the greatest threat to the American way of life America had ever faced. Hyperbole? Perhaps, but racist? The blog author goes on to suggest that Tancredo's statement has a racist tone. I went back and carefully read what was said again. I could not find any mention of race. What am I missing?
It would be tempting just to dismiss this as the work of Obama-supporters trying to smear all who oppose him, but the fact that Tancredo's statement was included for all to see and contained nothing that could be misinterpreted as remotely racial, let alone racist (as far as I could see), means that if this is a smear job, it's a very poorly executed one.
Am I missing some of the context? Is this a different definition of racism than I'm used to? Help me understand.
